Insta Rabbit Hole

Sorry I missed last week’s blog. I was traveling...through Instagram.

I was just going to check on a couple people’s stories, people that keep my political fires burning and in check at the same time, when, lo and behold, an hour had gone by. And this isn’t like the first time that’s happened. Not even close. You know what I’m talking about. Admit it.

Scrolling along and there’s a random photo of a random celebrity, possibly a dead celebrity so what’s that about? Or a new cabinet member/daytime game show host/future Tesla car salesman, so why does that even exist? Or more possibly Blake Lively – does anyone care what that’s about?

Sprinkle in the work out plans, weight loss formulas, trying-hard-to-be-the-next-big-comedian videos, the endless glow ups and before you know it, minutes turn into hours that turn into days that turn into seasons. And somehow, you’ve become an expert on possibly untrue “facts” about apple cider vinegar, chair exercises, artists who paint with vegetables, and the tundra. And Blake Lively...

Admittedly, it’s a great way to kill time while waiting for a dentist appointment. Unfortunately it’s also a great way to kill brain cells and interactive skills, so there’s that.

I’m thinking of setting an alarm for two minutes tops when I dive into the Instagram pool, knowing full well that if briantylercohen or Cher pop up, timing can be changed. But at least it’s a start!
